Estonian Language Training Program (Level A1)
This course is designed for beginners who want to start learning Estonian from scratch. By the end of the course, participants will be able to understand and use simple expressions for everyday communication.

Objective:
The aim of the training is to develop the Estonian language skills of non-Estonian-speaking learners to the level of an independent language user.
3. Learning Outcomes
By the end of the training, the learner will:
- Understand familiar words and phrases related to everyday communication situations when people speak slowly and clearly.
- Understand short, simple texts and extract information from basic everyday texts (labels, posters, catalogs, advertisements, job offers, menus, timetables).
- Manage typical everyday communication tasks, ask questions about others and answer questions about themselves, communicate in simple language with support from a partner, and describe their family and other people very simply.
The learning outcomes are achieved through classroom and independent work completed between classroom sessions.
4. Admission Requirements and Target Group
The course is intended for anyone interested in learning Estonian and developing their skills to A1 level.
Participation in the course requires payment of the course fee.
5. Total Workload, Structure, and Learning Materials
The total workload is 80 academic hours, including 60 hours of classroom work and 20 hours of independent work.
- Classroom Work (60 academic hours): Listening, reading, writing, translation exercises, oral conversations, dialogues, video viewing, etc.
- Independent Work (20 academic hours): Learners complete oral and written assignments throughout the course, practice vocabulary in real-life contexts, and complete exercises from textbooks and worksheets.
Classes are conducted in classrooms equipped with the necessary technical resources for teaching, and the facilities comply with health and safety standards.
6. Course Content
- Personal Data and Family: Greetings, introductions, simple personal information, documents.
- Home Country, Nationalities, and Languages: Describing origins and home countries.
- Cities and Geography: Major cities, islands, and maps.
- Professions and Skills: Postal services, banking, shopping, hairdressing, etc.
- Leisure, Hobbies, and Entertainment
- Food and Drink
- Weather and Nature: Understanding and describing weather reports and seasons.
- Daily Routines and Time: Describing daily activities.
Grammar Topics:
- Alphabet, pronunciation, and writing.
- Nouns: Cases, plural forms, agreement with adjectives.
- Numerals: Cardinal and ordinal numbers.
- Personal pronouns: Basic forms.
- Verbs: Conjugation in present tense and simple past, imperative and conditional forms.
- Unchangeable words: Conjunctions and adverbs.
- Interrogative words.
7. Learning Environment
The language training is conducted online and/or as in-person sessions in a modern lecture room in Tallinn at Toompuiestee 17a.
- Rooms are equipped with openable windows, blinds for sun protection, adjustable tables and chairs, and good lighting.
- Restrooms and handwashing facilities are available.
- The location has excellent public transport connections and parking nearby.
- The bright classrooms are equipped with teaching tools: whiteboards, flipcharts, WiFi, projectors, and computers for digital dictionaries and e-learning environments.
- The language school provides learning materials, including textbooks.

9. Completion Requirements and Certification
To complete the course, learners must attend at least 70% of classroom sessions, complete all required tasks, and pass tests.
- Learning outcomes are assessed through a final written language proficiency test using a point-based evaluation system.
- A minimum of 65% correct answers is required to pass the final test.
Certificates Issued:
- A certificate is awarded to learners who attend at least 70% of the classes.
- A proof of participation or completion is provided to those who attended less than 70% or did not achieve all required learning outcomes, reflecting the number of attended hours.
10. Trainer Qualifications
The training is conducted by experienced teachers of Estonian as a foreign language with prior experience in adult education.
